Reporting is a common task in any system. In this article, we will look at two ways of viewing the number of questions associated with a group.
Dashboard
The Dashboard can be viewed by logging into Ask Extension and then clicking the Dashboard link in the upper right-hand corner of the page. First, notice the Report timeframe area at the top of the page. Here you can adjust the timeframe you want to view by entering from and to dates.
After adjusting the date range you can then view the results on the tabs at the bottom of the page. Here is a quick synopsis of each:
Institution: The vast majority of questions that come into the system are associated with the Extension Foundation so you can largely ignore this tab.
Groups: On this tab, you can view stats associated with groups you are a member of.
Expert: View individual statistics
State: This tab contains a list of all questions and the county they are associated with.
For each of these tabs, there is an “Export” button at the bottom of the page where you can export a CSV of the data.
Questions Page
The questions page can be found by clicking the Questions link in the upper right-hand corner of the page after logging in to Ask Extension (it is also the default landing page after you log in). You can then choose any of options in the nav bar (e.g. “My Questions” or “Closed by Me”) and then sort by group (click the Group drop-down) then scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Export option to download a CSV. You can choose which fields you would like to export. After exporting you can sort the CSV however you like (by expert or date created, etc).
So, as an example, if you wanted to view all of the questions in your group that were closed in the last six months, you can hover you mouse over “Total Closed” then choose “Past 6 Months” and this would display those questions. you can then download the CSV for further sorting. There are lots of fields in the CSV so you could sort by expert or county or any other field you like.
Advanced Search
I wanted to also mention advanced search. It’s not so much a reporting tool, but might be helpful if you want to report on a specific individual. You can go to advanced search by clicking on the Advanced button on the Questions page. Once there you can search for questions by tag as well as any number of specific question fields. You can read more detail about that here: https://askhelp.extension.org/advanced-search-options/#with-assignee.
